A very pleasant morning on the Zion Hill footpath planting nearly 100 new trees (little saplings at the moment all staked and cosy inside tree guards). Wild Wood mix – free trees courtesy of the Woodland Trust, there is a mixture of Crab Apple, Downy Birch, Holly, Grey Willow (hopefully that will help to soak up the excess water on the path as years go by) and Hazels. It was really good to work with some amazing guys from the Coleorton and New Lount Volunteer Group (the lovely Mr. Specht hiding behind the camera!).
