Wreath laid on behalf of Coleorton parishioners

11/11/20

Government guidelines advised against groups meeting for Remembrance Sunday. However, On Sunday Cllr. Betts attended and laid two wreaths – one on behalf of St Mary’s Church and the other on behalf of Coleorton parishioners and, as is our usual custom read out the names of the war dead from Coleorton parish.

Revd. Mary Gregory, Rector of St Mary’s Church, Coleorton, writes: Usually, St Mary’s Church and Coleorton Parish Council would be welcoming the village to a simple Act of Remembrance at Coleorton’s war memorial. This year, North West Leicestershire District Council have asked us all to ‘Remember at Home’, rather than risk gathering in numbers and spreading Covid-19 amongst us.

So with the help of local film makers Pudding Bag Productions, we pre-recorded our Remembrance Sunday service. The film, shot in Ashby and in our villages, includes the central Act of Remembrance, together with beautiful prayers, readings and music from the St Helen’s choir. See the video on YouTube
