Forrester Close Play Area – Possible Transfer of Ownership and Responsibility

Forrester Close play area is currently owned by North West Leicestershire District Council and maintenance thereof charged under the Special Expenses on the Council Tax Demand.

Coleorton Parish Council has received numerous comments from parishioners regarding the apparent inability of NWLDC to maintain the play area to an appropriate standard, leaving the grass to grow to over two feet in height, not maintaining the one piece of play equipment or emptying the waste bin.

With this in mind, the Parish Council is considering taking over ownership of the play area from NWLDC.  This would mean that the Parish Council would be responsible for the maintenance of the play area.  Part of the Special Expenses cost would remain for the maintenance of the closed churchyard of St Mary’s church.

The Parish Council would not consider taking over the play area until such time as it is brought up to a suitable ,and appropriate standard for the site locality.

The Parish Council is now asking for your comments in response to its consideration to take on the play area for the benefit of the local community.  If you would like to comment or discuss this proposal please contact the Clerk – Fiona Palmer on 07312094205 or email
