Changes to speed restrictionsAs of 11 February 2013 there is a new 50mph speed limit on the A512 from just beyond the crossroads in the village (The Moor/Lower Moor Road) to beyond Coleorton Hall. Currently, it becomes decontrolled just after the crossroads. The other thing that parishioners may be interested in is that the current 40mph speed limit on the road into Ashby past Tesco is to become 30mph as you come off the roundabout. It currently becomes 30mph just before the school. Winter drivingThe county council grit main routes when the temperature falls below zero. But weather is unpredictable so don’t assume the road is gritted unless you can see the grit. Also the grit doesn’t always reach across the whole road - especially on wide junctions such as the junction of The Moor / Lower Moor Road and the A512. Check the LCC web site gritting page for further information and tips on winter driving. Look out for new signs! Vehicle-activated speed signThe speed sign has now been installed on the Moorlands. It will be moved regularly around the Parish, however we are limited to lampposts LCC have authorised us to use. After various trials the Parish Council purchased the mobile, speed-activated warning sign for use on various roads in the Parish. We don’t have authority to place the signs on the the A511 and A512. It’s a mobile unit which attaches to a lamppost or other post and so can be moved to different areas of the Parish.
