“Coleorton and the Beaumonts”
Exhibition

8 March - 5 April 2010

Monday - Friday: 11.00-1.00 and 2.00 - 4.00
Saturday: 10.00 - 4.00

An exciting opportunity to see photographs and original documents compiled over many years by the late John Crocker begins at Ashby Museum on March 8th. This new temporary exhibition will give people the opportunity to learn more about the village of Coleorton and its association with the Beaumont family who were “Lords of the Manor” for over five hundred years.

During March a new display board on the history of Coleorton village will also be unveiled. The Coleorton Parish Council, who have contributed to the display board, will be present at the opening ceremony at 2 pm on 19th March. The temporary exhibition runs until April 5th but the Coleorton Village Display Board will remain as a permanent exhibit in the North Street Museum.

Museum Volunteer John Macdonald, who has been working on the collection said “Most of the material, which includes photographs and original documents, has been taken from the vast amount of research bequeathed to the museum by the late John Crocker who, as well as working at Coleorton Hall, was a very well respected local historian. This exhibition will give Museum visitors the opportunity to obtain some insight into the quality of research carried out by John Crocker, which is now available at the museum.”
