Spring Gardening

Volunteer Group Plant Sale

With May Bank holiday coming up and Spring well under way it's time to get outdoors. If you need more plants for your garden come along to Coleorton & New Lount Volunteer Group's Plant Sales where they will be selling all kinds of garden plants at reasonable prices as well as garden ornaments and planters created at their workshop sessions. The sales are at Coleorton Wood on Saturday 7 May and at New Lount on Saturday 21 May. Find out more about the sales and the Volunteer Group >>. All proceeds go towards their work in looking after Coleorton Wood and New Lount Nature Reserve and other green projects in the parish.

You can produce good quality nutritious food for your garden plants and vegetables by creating your own compost. Next week is International Compost Awareness week and there are several composting workshops and events in Coalville. Home-made compost doesn't cost anything and is just as good (or better!) than the shop bought stuff. Look on the events page for dates and venues >>

All proceeds to the upkeep of St Mary's and St John's churches.

There are also a number of guided walks to historically interesting places such as Grace Dieu Priory and the Swannington Incline as part of the National Forest Walking Festival during the last two weeks of May. See events page for more details and links to the National Walking Festival website >>

About Coleorton Parish

Coleorton Parish includes the villages of Coleorton, Coleorton Moor, Church Town and Farm Town as well as parts of Peggs Green, Griffydam and Lount. The Parish Plan survey in 2008 found that parishioners felt communication of information throughout the parish was not effective and so a website was set up to address this. The website has now become a centre of information about activities and events in and around Coleorton, local clubs and organisations, a directory for local businesses and services and a platform for people who would like to share their enthusiasm for local history and the environment.

If you would like to contribute any item about Coleorton or surrounding areas or add details of your club, organisation or event (no charge) or have any suggestions for items on this website please email webmaster@coleorton.org.uk.

Local businesses and services

Coleorton residents are an enterprising bunch: the latest Coleorton businesses listed in the local services directory include IT specialists, photographers and dog walkers. Email webmaster@coleorton.org.uk if you would like your local business listed (free of charge for Coleorton-based businesses or owners).
