Rural Housing Needs Survey Extension

North West Leicestershire District Council is undertaking a consultation to help understand more about the type of housing that may be needed by local people. Some residents have not yet received their survey forms through the post. We are assured that they will be sent out within the next two weeks and the deadline for completion has been extended to the end of February. If you wish, you can complete the form on-line. Faster broadband on the way?

Superfast broadband has reached some parts of Coleorton. As BT Openreach roll out the new fibre network you will see new green cabinets, like the one on the right which is outside the Kings Arms, installed very close to the old cabinets which service your existing phone lines. There hasn't been a lot of publicity about this yet, but some residents in the Moorlands have contacted their service provider and signed up to new contracts. They are reporting better performance and less waiting for screens to load and videos to play. If you want the faster fibre-enabled broadband you must take out a new contract with BT or your service provider.

About Coleorton Parish

Coleorton Parish includes the villages of Coleorton, Coleorton Moor, Church Town and Farm Town as well as parts of Peggs Green, Griffydam and Lount. The Parish Plan survey in 2008 found that parishioners felt communication of information throughout the parish was not effective and so a website was set up to address this. The website has now become a centre of information about activities and events in and around Coleorton, local clubs and organisations, a directory for local businesses and services and a platform for people who would like to share their enthusiasm for local history and the environment.

If you would like to contribute any item about Coleorton or surrounding areas or add details of your club, organisation or event (no charge) or have any suggestions for items on this website please email
