Police report increase in thefts from vehicles
The police have reported a number of thefts from vehicles in Coleorton and surrounding areas. See the police report & crime figures for Coleorton during August. They have apprehended a suspect but they recommend keeping vigilant. Chief Superintendent Andy Lee, Commander of the Local Policing Directorate said: "We have received a number of reports from across the force area of theft of tools from vans. The majority of thefts have been taking place overnight on driveways of homes but we have also seen some occurrences in hotel car parks. Van owners should take precautions to reduce their chances of becoming a victim of this type of crime by
- removing all tools from vehicles overnight
- purchasing a sign or sticker advising that no tools are left in your van overnight
- parking your vehicle in a garage if you have one
- consider alarming the vehicle or fitting an internal security cage
- if you park on a drive, installing security lights
- visibly marking your machinery and tools
- if possible, parking your vehicle close to a wall so that the doors cannot be opened"
Report any suspicious activity to the police immediately on 101

About Coleorton Parish
Coleorton Parish includes the villages of Coleorton, Coleorton Moor, Church Town and Farm Town as well as parts of Peggs Green, Griffydam and Lount. The Parish Plan survey in 2008 found that parishioners felt communication of information throughout the parish was not effective and so a website was set up to address this. The website has now become a centre of information about activities and events in and around Coleorton, local clubs and organisations, a directory for local businesses and services and a platform for people who would like to share their enthusiasm for local history and the environment. If you would like to contribute any item about Coleorton or surrounding areas or add details of your club, organisation or event (no charge) or have any suggestions for items on this website please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Local businesses and services
Coleorton residents are an enterprising bunch: the latest Coleorton businesses listed in the local services directory include IT specialists, photographers and dog walkers. Email email@example.com if you would like your local business listed (free of charge for Coleorton-based businesses or owners).
